Shou sugi ban raised bed garden

Not sure how it will turn out or how long it will last, but took some old pine 2x6 tongue and groove scraps and I'm going to make a raised bed garden out of them. All organic. Next step is to lightly brush them, then rub with linseed oil,re-heat, and done.

It's a method from the Japanese where you burn/ char wood to preserve it.

I'm in to see how this turns out.

        2x6 or 1x6?

Never had any idea that would work in a garden environment. Very cool.

2x6. Its special order but these are just the scraps from a job. I have about double what is in the picture.

They just don't look like 2' x 6" to me. The angle of the pic throws off the perspective I guess.

The guy who’s building my house did a whole exterior wall on his house with it and before the. I had never heard of it or seen it done.

                Looks similar to this.

There is a millwork shop out of Austin that sells all types, finishes, and colors of it.

I had never heard of this before. Thanks for introducing us to it. I've done some reading, and it is a thing! I need to try doing this to some outdoor furniture.

I wonder if it will work on my outdoor swing made of wolmanized pine?
