Best kids caliber?

6.5 Grendel would be my choice, in either a Howa 1500 mini action or a CZ 527. Both very good rifles.

Shotgun 28ga, breaks clays like a 20, but recoil of a 410. It builds confidence, rifle we went with 7mm-08.

My son at 8 yds old started with a 7-08, I just downloaded it for a few years and he still shoots it at 22 yds old, Rem model 7.
Many deer, pigs, yotes,foxes etc have fallen from him and that rifle!

Our 2 kids guns at the ranch are a Ruger Compact in .243 and a Remington Model 7 in .223.

My dad bought me the Model 7 when i was 6yo. We have since named it The Crippler.

That .243 is a great kids gun.

I started out with my grandads old 243. But my daughter shot her first 2 deer this season with my 6.8 ar. The adjustable butt stock and little to no recoil seemed like a no brainer. Only problem is that I dont think I own a 6.8 anymore, at least to hear her talk lol I also bought a bog pod deathgrip and that thing is a total game changer. Highly suggest checking one of those out for them to shoot off of

My daughter shoots a 7mm-08

When she was younger, I loaded up some low recoil loads with 120 gn bullets. Nearly no recoil at all (felt like an AR).

Now she’s shooting 140gn bullets full load, and it still doesn’t have much recoil.

I like shooting that rifle almost as much as she does. Taken a load of varmints, pigs and deer with it.

All my kids kill with a .243 but I bought that 20 years ago before the 6.5 came out. Would think that would be a good caliber too.
