    Which AR15 round for pigs?

I didn't want to hi-jack the 300 BO thread so I started this one. I bought a 300 BO upper for use on hogs but like many on that thread, have had less than optimal performance. Which round would you recommend based on the below:

    1. Must fit AR-15 platform.
    2. For use on hogs out to 100 yards, both stationary and running. Also could be used on deer
    3. Fairly available factory ammo (current ammo shortage aside)
    4. Larger than .22 caliber (I already have a solid 5.56/.223 AR)

    Thanks in advance!

6.8 or 6.5 Grendel. Killed my second biggest buck with the 6.8 and Hornady GMX

                I’m considering a 224 Valkyrie if I swap uppers

I agree with you on this as I am currently shooting 75gr. Speer Gold Dots out of my 5.56, and it has definitely improved my performance on hogs, though mostly on head shots. I am wanting another round, preferably larger than .22 caliber, to transfer more energy, especially running hogs.

7.62x39 is a great round that a little searching on the internet you can find the ammo you need. I have bought about 800rds in the last couple of months. All less than $0.50 a round. All hollow points or soft points. I did pick up a bit of FMJ just to play around with though.

223/556 does the job and easiest to stay on target with or multiple targets. Really depends on your purpose. You hunting or killing is what you have to ask yourself

I'm going with the 6.8spc. If you were doing 300+ the 6.5 Grendel. There's decent hunting ammo availability. I have some Accubond and Hog Hammer for my 6.8.
