Another good race as tactics were ! Hamilton and the TEAM put on a masterclass. I can truly appreciate Bottas' will to compete & wanting to be in 1st place.....instead of constant 2nd & 3rd's. But, his decision was unwarranted and revealed something about character in my humble opinion. He could not win the race......period! Why cost your TEAMmate important seconds? He is 2nd seat and he knows it. If he wants to be 1st
seat I guess he could consider another TEAM. I like him alot....a whole lot actually, but don't let misplaced pride/bravodo/peer pressure destroy your incredible income stream and your legacy as a primo F1 driver. Just my thoughts on one helluva driver in a TEAM system that keeps on giving.

Red bull will not be competitive until they get a consistently good driver in the second seat.

Hamilton would not have been able to undercut if Perez was in the mix.

Really wish Lando or leclerc could be in that red bull second seat.

Monaco is this weekend!! I know it’s not the most exciting race as far as fast corners and passing, but it’s one I always look forward to every year.

They get SO close to the walls at speed, and love the tunnel as well.

Come on Red Bull and McLaren!!

So as a non F-1 fan, I turned on the race on May 9. I don't recall where they were. I am absolutely astonished by the amount of formulas, and math, and calculations, and reservation, that goes into F-1.

The fact that the teams knew exactly when Hamilton would pass whatever the other guys name was, the precision of the pit stops, the crew sitting calmly on chairs acting like they have done their job before, how much slower old tires were, the close up of how the tires change with more laps as the car take a corner, it was something else.

I still prefer GT racing, but it was pretty cool to see. I also miss those old 12 cyl engines.

You guys need to find & watch the Moto GP race that was held in france...started out with slicks & the rain showed up, then the rain tires got worn when it stopped. Lost almost half the field.

It's F1 on two wheels goodness.

Watched this on Sunday. Was hilarious and terrifying at the same time. Amazing how quick the track dried and those rain tires were shredded at the end.

Looking forward to Monaco this weekend! Like said above, it's a tough place to pass but so fun to watch. Would not surprise me to see Ricciardo on the podium this wknd.

Never really understood why that is a crown jewel race, they can't pass! I will much rather be watching Indy 500 qualifying this weekend, there will be bumping this year, and probably catch a little of the Nascar race in Austin.

I looked at Tech Talk today while driving back from F'berg. That Monaco race is just down right exciting to me. Street races are dangerous as heck and the scenery is off the charts....... I hope to be there next year or 2023.
I did get a call from the Miami race staff today. My deposit has my spot secured in "Club 72" space!!! Pricey but Miami in May is always good. The track is still dirt but shaping up nicely. I may deaux a drive by next week while we are down there.

Wow! LeClerc / Ferrari have pole for tomorrow’s race (in a very spectacular fashion!!!). Verstappen / Red Bull is next to him. Should be an exciting race tomorrow.

Yep, that was a crazy last 120 seconds of qualifying. Verstappen and Bottas were having a great lap when LeClerc screwed the pooch. Report from Mercedes was tires not heating up very well. Gonna be crazy when lights out.

LeClerc is OUT!!! WTH!!! Ferrari totally blew the decision not to change the gearbox. Gonna be some serious investigation internally on that decision. Verstappen was just given an early Christmas gift. Gasly will be a serious factor at 4th now.And never count Hamilton out.....he is not going to relax .

Sainz saved Ferrari by running hard in that race.
Lando made me proud at 21 years old and keeping his composure. Gasly did brilliant also holding Hamilton at bay ALL race. Aston Martin's plan of attack and strategy was the best of all teams today.......just solid planning!

Bottas has a rare moment to outshine Lewis and it gets blown! Exciting to see some mid pack in the mix.

Sainz, lando, gasly love to see them up front!

I had a thought when Bottas pitted he was going to have an issue somewhere- always happens to that guy when he is leading Hamilton.

I love Monaco for the track but it seems the cars have just gotten too big to pass at all- was there a pass for position after lap1 on the track the entire race?
I'm a Ferrari fan so watching Leclerc hurt- Sainz looked good tho and salvaged the day!

The only 2 passes were due to strategic pit stops.....after lap one. Vettel moved up 3 places or so on his super slick move. Just read the report from Mercedes that the nut gun sheered off the two wings that keep it on the tire!!!!! Totally freaky deal but the gun guy is one of the highest rated in the pit game. Toto Wolf feels the design they are using may need to be adjusted. Sucks to high heaven as he was running a really good race.

I thoroughly enjoyed the race. I hated to see the transmission issue with LeClerc, and the wheel issue with Bottas really sucked.

However, I’m happy to see Verstappen take the win, and take the lead in the championship. I have a feeling the next race (Baku) might be similar. The Red Bulls seem better situated to those types of tracks (street circuits).

Also great to see fantastic drives from Perez, Sainz, Norris and Vettel.

Bingo!! I’m right there with you!!

It’s not that I hate MB, I just enjoy good, close racing.

I want as many teams as possible to catch up with them. However, I’m not in favor of penalizing MB to close that gap.

I had to deaux two things while in Miami for this extended weekend. (1) Check out the new track for next year and (2) get a glimpse at the "72 Club" suites we booked. We'll, no access to the suites because the stadium was closed.....and not much to see of the new circuit......except lots of sand a Porta potties. They got a loooooong way to geaux to have all this done by the inaugural 2022 F1 Miami Grand Prix, but I am sure they are smarter than me on all that civil engineering stuff!

I was hoping to see a rendering or something. I am not very abstract and needed to see something concrete to understand what I was thinking is the future layout.
I did snag a sweet Formula 1 Edition Tag Heuer watch while I was carrying my wife's shopping bags for her.....lol!!!

Baku FP1 was fast. Lots of missed turns and exit routes used. Max was showing his same form from Monaco with both Ferrari drivers looking good also. FP2 is about to start and I suspect alot of adjustments have been made to the cars.

Now that will definitely raise an eyebrow or two when you shine that light on it.......whew!!!
Any idea why Latifi got back on the circuit after running off just now? The problem was there when he ran off.....now he has caused a red flag .

P3 saw Max wreck his car and Gasly have the quickest time!
Qualifying starts with a big crash by Lance Stroll and a RED flag. George Russell got a reprieve as his car was not ready after P3 to start the Qualifying round. Lots of loooong straights in Baku for a road race. I suspect tomorrow to be really competitive. Anybody ever been to Azerbaijan ? Looks incredibly nice sitting on the Caspian sea for the last 5,500 years!

Oh crap!!! Giovanazzi just put his alpha Romeo into the same wall as Lance Stroll.......another red flag!!! Over half the drivers have not had a hot lap with only 9 minutes left in Q1. Tires are going to be bad cold!!!
Now Ricardo smacks into the same turn 15 wall. Front right is smashed under.

Session ended with that. Leclerc gets pole, with Hamilton right behind him followed by Verstappen and my dude Gasly in 4th. This race is going to be buckwild tomorrow.

I’m really pulling for Gasly after the Red Bull ordeal. But I am a Sainz/LeClerc fan.... I guess it was a gearbox issue with Sainz in qualifying. Being a Ferrari fan has been a “hold your breathe” experience in qualifying recently!

Well that was an unexpected top 3, they are lucky someone didn't get killed with those tire failures.
Also notice Liberty media has taken the nascar approach of its all about the show, back in the day they would have finished that race under yellow, great for the fans but much more dangerous for the drivers.

Wowzer!!!! Absolutely insane. I loved it. Gasly getting 3rd was awesome for me also. pirelli is going to lose the contract if tire failure is the issue. Really scary to have tires blowing out at 200 mph!!! Hamilton took one heckuva chance on that restart ........talk about getting outta the hole.....whew!!!! All or nothing move on brakes. He got nada in the end, but it took huge guts to even try that. He and Verstappen still rule the roost by a large margin.

Not sure about a re-air, but make sure to at least catch the last 5 laps off a redflag restart.
Pretty action packed.

I haven't watched, but this should cover it.....

Spoiler alert , that picture isn't from this weeks race, really

I agree with the Pirelli tire issue. Very scary stuff! And I also agree they should have finished the race under a safety car. I know it’s not the “action packed” thing to do, but it was the right thing to do under the safety circumstances concerning the tires.

I’m thankful that Stroll and Verstappen did not suffer any injuries with their crashes / tire failures.

Verstappen and Perez both drove a brilliant race. As did Vettel and Gasly. Perez has now jumped ahead of Norris in the WDC, and Red Bull has extended their lead in the WCC. RB will need the cushion, because I feel France will benefit MB’s cars.

Baku did not disappoint. Especially the first five laps and the last five laps. Great racing!
