So the little figurines that you get to use consists of a lawn mower with no mower deck, a 78 Camaro, a truck with no bed, and a Walmart shopping cart with one bad wheel?

And it's trailer park place instead of just Park Place?

My wife and I had a legal issue where her two uncles had to be served papers...Not adversarial, just having to do with her mom's dementia. When Jen had to tell the lawyer that one uncle lived on Tree Monkey Road and the other one lived on Little Dirt Road....well, Jen realized that she was redneck bred.

I don't know, but if Mi Tio Beto's Carnicera isn't on there, it's a travesty. They have some jam-up pre-seasoned fajita meat...beef and chicken. Their tamales are hard to beat too.

Mayer's Grocery was my first real job. Also where I was weighed on the meat scale two weeks after my birth because my mom was afraid I wasn't gaining weight. Mr. Hupie Green was a fine man.

I remember when Olee's was called Sassie's and sat up on 59 behind the exxon station. Mr Tyre bought the place from the Sassies and kept the name until he moved it onto 1314 in front of his house. The Sassie's house was where Northern Tool sits now, the NE corner of 59 and 1314.

Don't get me started on Porter Burger. Maybe the best hamburger that ever existed.

This was a great town to grow up in. Porter, I mean. I'd still dominate New Caney Opoly, but I'm a Porter Kid. I did marry a New Caney girl. I joke that my wedding gift to her was her first pair of shoes.

Yep, and Foster's Food Market. Corner of Ford Rd and 1314.

How about Porter Snowball? I ate them after school in when I was in Kindergarten and I ate one last week. 40+ years of the best snow cones known to man.

Dude I started playing at Lydia Ferris in 1978....The T-ball Twins. Played in a uniform shirt and bluejeans. Played there until the new ballpark opened at the Fair Grounds and they consolidated Lydia Ferris and Oakley Parks. My grandparents moved to Porter around 1950. My kids went to the same HS as their parents....and grandparents.

Porter Hardware. Burned down and a local fireman was lost in the fire. Tragic.

Foster's Food Market was the one by where Player's is now, at least when I was a kid. 1983 Tornado took the back wall off the whole building. There was an Ore's somewhere, but before my time.

I miss the Dixie Cafe lunch buffet.

Where Walgreens is now was it's 2nd location. It's first location was the Parking lot where Player's is now....right across the road from Porter Elementary.

My dad was a coonhunter (his CB handle was Porter Coonhunter). The fur buyer would come to the porter hardware parking lot a few times a year and my dad would sell his coon hides. Come home Rollin fat stax of cash.

Mike will remember, I grew up 2 houses down from the old Shines. I walked to Porter Elementary.

I know its closed, but this game should have Overalls grocery. If that wasn't a New Caney staple I dont know what is?

I remember going to Porter Hardware with my dad as a kid.

The only thing left of Overalls is the street sign on the corner. I'm glad it's still there, and I hope it doesn't get removed.

Yeah they put that sign up after Floyd Overall passed away. I dont think they will take it down because the community helped raise funds for that sign after he passed. I sure hated to see them sell out. Nancy's health isn't very good anymore and all the big stores moving in just shut them down. Walmart played a big part in Overalls closing and Brookshire brothers also. Thats another one that has been around awhile.

Hate to hear that. Used to buy minnows there when I was a kid fishing with my Grandpaw, they were always nice people in there. New Caney is my moms home town but I haven’t been out that way in years. Family has all moved away since my grandparents are gone. Sounds like a lot has changed but some things are still the same. My dads family was from Splendora so there was always a small fued. My wife and I rented a house out there before we were married and it was quite the culture shock for her being from Waller.
