I had the officer that always stands on duty escort me out of Longview dps.
Smooth lost my $#!+ on them on idiots after going round and round with them.
Long story, but these places have been taken over by the laziest, least intelligent people on earth as far as I'm concerned and everyone of em has a attitude.

I went through this myself end of last year. It took 3 trips to finally get everything and renew my driver's license I have had for over 35 years!

Cracked me up that THEY have given me a DL for 45 years and now I am not in there system. The sign in computer knew me with just my phone number!

My daughter told me to "drink about it!" Think I will follow her advise...then try again Tuesday!

Tell them you are a non documented resident. Would of got the golden treatment. New DL and SS and birth certificate for free.

I went through the same crap 3 years ago at that same age. Had to go and get birth certificate. If your license has the gold star on it now you should be able to renew on line again.

I guess I was very fortunate. When I made the appointment online, it stated exactly what I was going to need to bring with me to get my license. Of course I thought that was pretty ridiculous since I’ve had my license since 1971. The lady behind the counter helped me fill out the form for my cdl renewal, so I didn’t make any mistakes and have to start over. The eye test was easier than it’s ever been before, I passed it without my glasses. The whole process, in and out took only ten minutes. I don’t know what the difference might have been. Small town life maybe?

Yep, you now need an original/official birth certificate to renew your DL. There were several threads on here about it at the time the law changed, as I recall. No excuse.

Sounds like that part might have been missed.

But I did just order 3 copies of my birth certificate.

I just went through all this in May and my appointment sign up and reminder all told me to bring my birth certificate and social security card. Smoothest transaction I've ever had at a DL license appointment. Beats the hell out of standing in a long line for an hour or two in a room full of window lickers, teenagers and no speakees.
