After trying every so-called shade tolerant grass out there I put edging around those shady trees and planted ground covers like Asian jasmine, purple winter creeper and giant liriope. It takes a couple years to fill in but once it does it’s a good low maintenance option. San Augustine requires 5-6 hours of sunlightLast edited by jerp; 06-05-2022, 04:05 PM.

I had never heard of purple winter creeper until you mentioned it here. I’m curious, is it more or less hardy than Asian jasmine? Does it tolerate full sun? And in your experience, is it deer resistant?
