    Old meat grinder info

Was grinding deer and brisket today and someone was asking me about my grinder and how old it is. Im really not sure of its age so i decided to do a little checking around but have not figured anything out. Since tbh folks knows things, decided to post here. Its pretty dang old and was in a meat market some little town in etx for most its life. Someone gave it to my granddad who gave it to me. Works great been grinding deer, brisket and pork with it every year for the last 20 years or so. Anyhow the specs are below.

    Make: Hobart
    Model Number: 4612
    Serial Number: 702184
    HP: 1/4
    Spec: 3919

Really just wanna know it's age for my own curiosity.

    Thoughts?

Ill try to get some pics up

See the last two numbers of the serial number? I think that’s it.

Should be another tag somewhere on it that shows date of mfg.

That model was made for some years. Back to the 60s I believe. A picture could help as they changed slightly throughout the years. I good working condition with parts they can be worth over $1000 easy.

I have a large Hobart, as in commercial grinder and a mixer, that are old and not sure what to do with. Not sure they are able to be fixed. Project for another day that always gets put off.

We had one like that, except the base was black. It would devour anything. I have a smaller one now.

You might want to contact Hobart if you want more info. I have a Biro meat saw and biro grinder. I contacted Biro and there were able to tell me the year it sold and the original owner. The saw was sold to Giant Market Grocery in Johnson City New York in 1947 and the grinder was sold to Safeway in Longview Texas in 1981.
