Conroe Catfish

So me and my Best Friend of 50 Years are gonna try to catch some Catfish on Lake Conroe tomorrow. We Wore the Bass out on that lake in the 70’s and 80’s on lures.

We got Chicken Livers, Shad, and Stinkbait.

Any tips or help from you Guys or Gals would be appreciated.

Bulkheads on the Southend early in the morning

Run the bulkheads to find the fish.



I like to fish the bottom using a Carolina rig.

6/0 or 8/0 circle hook, tied with a Snell Knot. I like a Santee Rig. It keeps your bait off of the bottom. Cut shad if you can get them. That`s all I got. Good Luck!!

Bulkheads and rock levees. Santee Rig or similar. If you can’t find shad, frozen shrimp from HEB or Kroger works like a champ!

If you like channels, check out the pilings under the 1097 bridge. There will be chains hanging with pvc pipes on them. I used to have good luck under those. My dad and I always suspected they were baiting of some sort, but never confirmed it.
