243 Win. With 1:8 Twist Load Info

Just picked up a new Ruger No. 1 with a little faster than 1:8 twist and I know it will stabilize the heavier 6mm bullets but what about the lighter ones? Looking for info on bullets less than 90 grains if anyone has a 243 with a fast twist. If you load for it, what powders does yours like for the heavy and lighter bullets.

I run 70s out of 8 twist 6 Creed. Similar speeds, and 70s shoot great. I wouldn’t worry about anything 80 and up.

About 2 months ahead of me. Slowly ordering parts and components.
That is a great looking # 1 as well!

I’m planning on 115 to be my do all.
          I do have 65 V-Max, 75 V-Max, 100 BTSP, and 105 A-Max as back up though.

Bingo, why on earth shoot lighter weights in a fast twisted barrel.

I have a 6mmx284 one in ten that spits the lighter weights at blistering speed. The original Barnes X bullet flat base was a death ray at a bit over 3800 back in the day.

My 243 Win is. 1:10 twist but I just finished working up a load using the Barnes 80 gr TTSX and IMR 4064. Chronographed at 3378 fps.

If it’s fast enough to spin that 115 it’s going to be too fast for that 65 and most likely that 75. My 8 twist isn’t fast enough for a 115, and it’s bit faster than a 243.

I’ll be using the heavier bullets myself but I’m looking into loading up a reduced recoil round using 80-90 grain bullets for my kiddos.

I will try and find some Trail Boss. Have you tried a reduced recoil load with the H4850?
