Default Montana Elk Hunt 2021

My favorite time of the year has finally rolled back around, and itís time to point the truck north towards Montana to chase elk. This year is a little bit different as I wonít be hunting a general tag. My friend Forrest and I have both drawn archery only bull tags in a LE cluster of units. We are fortunate enough to have access to some private land to hunt this tag on.

Iím meeting Forrest up in Montana on Thursday about lunch, then we have two days to scout and figure out a game plan. Iím hoping to make Buffalo, WY before pulling over to get a good meal and a nights sleep tomorrow night. The truck is loaded down, Iíll try to keep this as updated as I can while we are hunting.

Here are some pics of bulls from this year on camera and some scenery from the last 3 years. Hopefully this will get some of yíall through while waiting for your hunt dates to get closer.

Safe travels and good luck.

We've got some monsoon moisture coming in tomorrow and then a cool front. Not sure if you'll get the moisture up in Montana but should be much cooler.
Hope it helps your hunt out.
Good luck !

Good luck. Ive enjoyed your threads in the past. This will just get me even more jack up for my trip. Do you anticipate glassing/chasing them or hunting over water?

This year will more than likely be more hunting pinch points and glassing Iíd imagine. But you never know, all it takes is one bull thatís fired up to come try and run us over.

Good luck to you! Wave as you go through Casper, that's where I live. The smoke from the fires out west have been really bad here the past several days so I am hoping for some rain tomorrow to clear the air a bit.

Send some bugle reports.
I'm thinking the blue moon we had last month might get the rut started a little early this fall.
Our boxelder tree has a few yellow leaves already, fall is a comin" folks.

Fall is definitely in the air, WyTex. Taking our truck camper to Laramie on Saturday for the opening UW game. That is always a good sign the elk woods are coming alive!

We're headed up to Sybille canyon for a couple of days of whitetail hunting, maybe cow elk too. We'll be in town for the game but not going.
Good beers at The Library WyoBull, Mitch made a chile stout Monday, might be on tap for the weekend. I think I gave him scotch bonnets for the beer.

Jaker hope Montana St. is not celebrating a big win in Laramie on Saturday evening.
