    New Mexico Pronghorn Down!

Not sure how any of you crazy people hunt these with a bow.

Hunted out of Unit 13, 30 miles from Magdalena, NM. Greenest it's been in 20 years, which made the hunt pretty challenging.

These things can disappear quicker than my brother-in-law when the check comes at dinner! Wild, not even run off, just disappear in the arroyo and bed down.

Had a blast, had to use a rifle because I'm not a skilled enough hunter to bow hunt them.

340 yard shot after a 1/2 mile run up a ridge to get in position. Hunted hard 14 hours the day before.

Range shooting at 500 and hunting at 300+ are two different animals. I practice on steel long range lol, not the same for sure.

It was on the end of my comfort zone for sure but was able to get a good shot off from an elevated position with a good rest.

Congrats on a beautiful animal! Was this public or private land, draw or OTC tag?

It's actually a Ruger with a Magpul stock.

Private land with an OTC tag.

I think it's new but they sell OTC tags for any private land, they ask the unit for the hunt code but Fish and Game said it was good for any private land.

I thought you would have to get landowner tags for private land when I started researching it.

Well done! The majority of archery Antelope hunting is done out of a blind over a waterhole.
Spot and stalk with a bow is a big challenge but I know guys who do it with a decoy.
