Well, we made it S.A.....our guns are in Atlanta or somewhere over the Atlantic right now.

Delta decided that the best way to fix the weight balance issue was to take every gun case off of the plane. Lots of ****** off hunters in Joe-Burg tonight.

Made it to the lodge. 45 hours since we slept, anything more than a catnap. We got a quick bite to eat and a cold beer and then to the shower and bed.

Yes gentlemen, I am able to use the PH's firearms. Just a tad frustrated that I spent $200 for the import fee, $220 for a good case, $200 for ammunition and a half a day trip to Austin to get them checked in by Border patrol and still having to rent firearms at $350 for the week.

Shot his rifle today. It is a good rifle but it isn't MY rifle. I guess that is life.

In the mean time.....we slept from 2 am to 10 am. Had a wonderful brunch of omelets, bacon and Kudu sausage. Saw a few critters while driving to the rifle range. Couldn't get pics of most of them.

Dinner tonight for those foodies....

Impala Stew, butternut squash with some kind of sweet sauce, chicken fried Nyala strips with Mrs. Ball's original chutney, cole slaw, rice and homemade rolls...

Finished it up with a gin and tonic, a good cigar and cheesecake around the fire.

Did I mention, an open bar!

My 2nd and 3rd shot with it were touching.

Unfortunately, my first shot on the Kudu was not my best shooting. I pulled it pretty bad-frontal shot. My 2nd shot was through some nasty stuff, but found it's mark and finished things quite quickly.

It's a few minutes before 1 am here. I am too excited to sleep. Wife is knocked out. Thought I'd share a few pics of things that were of interest to me today.

Apparently sparberry means strawberry. Taste like diet big red.

The roofs of most of the buildings out here are of this thatch material. I was told it does not transfer the heat from the sun to the inside and is an amazing insulator.

Hoping for some sleep....5 am is not far away.
