Picked up both guns today. The S&W is a model 10-5 Nickel new in box from 1974. The rifle is a Savage 6A made between 1938-1945. It is in great shape. Does anyone have a 6A?

Ive got a 6a. My 15 year old still shoots it all the time. They arr absolute tack drivers. That gun is dead nuts as far out as you can shoot it.

I had a 6a years ago. I actually gave it away due to jamming problem I could never fix.

My Dad had the Steven's version of that 22. Very accurate guns, wish he would have kept it

That Savage is like the first .22 I ever shot. I couldn’t even hold it up by myself. My cousin owned it and we ate many squirrel and dumplings courtesy of the Savage.

I had one of those rifles, I think the one I had was a Stevens, but I may be wrong. It looked identical to the gun you have. Yours is in much nicer condition. The one I had, was in good condition, but definitely not as nice as the one you have. I think I cleaned the gun up, shot it once, put a magazine of 22s through it and never shot it again. I put it up for sale shortly afterwards, and sold it.

Then last week, someone else posted up a 6A, and went into detail of it's features. I did not realize it could be used as a single shot. After learning about them, they are actually interesting 22s. Now I wished I had not sold the one I inherited.

The 6A is known as 'The Clacker' due to it's distinctive action noise.

I have a gun that looks identical to the Savage, but it is JC Higgins. Savage ( or Stevens) apparently made them for Sears at one time.

Careful! The ATF doesn't like those gill guns. That's one reason they quit making them.
