I spent NYE with the family then got up early & headed south this morning. I’ve got my dad down here with me for the weekend, so hopefully we have some luck. Just got settled into the blind about 15 minutes ago, and have a doe & yearling here for the party.

Been watching 3 mature does and a nubbin buck for a couple of hours, along with a gazillion blue quail. We came to this spot hoping to get an up close look and some video of a new buck that showed up on camera about a week & 1/2 ago. He’s been here every day, but hasn’t shown yet this evening.

No luck this evening. Bucks are really traveling right now, still looking for does that haven’t been bred. Going to change things up and hunt my spot in the middle of the place in the morning. It’s next to a large pond, we call it the Oasis. It seems to get a ton of activity during the rut and post rut, and there definitely was a lot going on there this evening, according to the camera. I’m trying to decide whether to hunt my tripod in the morning, or be a sissy & sit in my bow blind with the heater going. I’ll hopefully have an update with some more pics in the morning.
