    Trophy Room/Shop/Home Gym - (Self GC’d)

This journey of a new home site, new home, and the idea of an out building as a Trophy Room, Shop, and Home Gym building all-in-one began about three years ago.

We came across a 1.4 acre lot through a church friend and we could not pass up the deal. It was a beautiful lot with trees, one way in, one way out, tight knit neighborhood of 23 homes.

The builder we were already leaning towards for a next home actually built all but three of these homes, developed this whole neighborhood on his land, and set in place fairly strict deed restrictions but no HOA.

Perfect school district of where we want our kids.

Long story short, we have had that builder build our dream home this year. We are beyond blessed for all of the stars to align in order to be where we are.

My idea of a building to do three things has always been a dream - entertaining, working out, and workshop/storage space.

I couldn’t wrap my head around the cost of kit buildings. The i-bean style buildings are IMO no longer as affordable.

To customize the size and space I wanted to fill on the lot I decided to go with a 2-1/2” square tubing style building with horizontal sheeting instead of vertical.

We used our same concrete guys and plumbers that did our house.

I got the building through superior carports in Victoria.

Our same framers had very little work lined yo so they cut me a smoking deal to frame it all out.

The electricians are family friends and they actually did our new house as well. The custom home builder liked them so much he’s brought them on as a preferred sub. Therefore they also cut us a smoking deal for the electrical.

    Total building is 26’x55’ = 1430sqft

Trophy Room section is 26’x26’ with a kitchenette and full bathroom.

    Workout Room/Gym is a 13’x13’ with 9’ ceilings.

The shop area is L-Shaped and takes up the rest of the square footage. It also has an attic space over shop and gym giving an additional storage area with attic pull down of 754sqft.

So far with slab, rough plumbing, actual building, framing, and electrical I’m $41k in.

The rest of this finish out will be slow but steady as I’m about out of the cash I had set away.

I’ll post updates as we have them.

Basic Plans (Almost to scale) both sketches make the total building square footage
