I have always wanted to try and kill an audad with a bow. I had always heard that they were tough animals and very difficult to take with a bow.
We spent Thanksgiving with family at my Aunt's place near Leakey. They have a beautiful ranch and tons of game. Friday evening it was miserable weather. Misting rain and the wind was howling. I picked a spot with a fiberglass bow blind so I could get out of the wind and rain. 30 minutes after the feeder went off, a group of 8 audad came in with 1 ram, 2-3 ewes, and some babies.
I waited till the ram gave me a slightly quartering away shot and let the arrow fly. The ram ran in a circle 3 times on the back side of the feeder and then took off. I went and got my son to help with tracking, but it got dark fast and with everything being wet, it was hard to find blood.I felt the shot might have been a bit back too, so we backed out and waited til morning.
I was able to find him the next morning pretty quickly. He made it about 150 yards. I can check this one off my list now!
