I got a hunt booked there in two weeks. Has anyone been there or would like to share their experience with the place?

My wife and I went when they first opened. We had a great time. She shot a hog and a nice Black Buck. The thing that will irritate you is they put you out and corn everywhere, not just where you are hunting.

I brought alfalfa pellets and put them out in front of blind. That is only reason my wife had a shot at the Black Buck. He was trotting by and smelled it. Ran right to it.

Rams are everywhere and stupid. Easy shot. The others are a little more leery. We mainly hunted octagon blind.

They feed everywhere. The rams and pigs are a slam dunk

The lodge is nice and fishing is good. Do a live hunt when you go and good luck

I'm going for Black Buck. Hows the herd or shot opportunities on them?

They are there, as long as you sit in the pasture stands youíll see them. If you can kill one or not depends on how far you can shoot

The hunt went great! I got my Black Buck and Hog on the first day. Saw tons of animals and the hospitality was great! I definitely recommend this ranch. Mr. Bary and his guide Ryan did everything possible to put me on game. My cousin shot a whitetail doe and made a bad shot on a Black Buck that we were unable to recover so that sucks but it's bowhunting. I will most definitely be back!

I studied their website and it said bow only - no crossbows. I'm a disabled veteran and I can't shoot a vertical bow. I sent them an email to ask if they made exceptions for the disabled hunters, and I never got a response.

Regards,

Dave

Went two or so years ago. House and cleaning station are very nice. One buddy killed a blackbuck and the other shot an axis we didn't find. I was after pigs only but didn't see any in range over about 20 pounds. I was surprised by the amount of whitetail.

Their website confuses me.

It states, "2 day Axis Deer hunt. Includes 2 Nights lodging. Price per day with a 2 day minimum."

Further down it states, "Payment Info: Payment is for 1/2 down ($350.00). The remaining ($350.00) is due upon arrival."

So is it $700 for both days or $700 a day?

When we went it was $350/day for the exotic hunts. No kill fee.

FYI - thanks for your suggestion. I called the Bar-J the other day and spoke with Barry (the owner). He said he never received my email, and apologized for not seeing the message from me. Bottom line is you need to call and speak with Barry regarding any special requests or exceptions. BTW, he was very friendly and easy to talk to. My son and I are discussing a hunt there later this year.

Dave

Me and my daughter went their in March and won’t go back. Barry and his dad are very nice, and the place is nice, just understand they keep the cost low because not everyone kills their animal. I will go with a reputable outfitter that will try everything to give us a shot opportunity.
