Default Hostile Lease Mate

So an older member rejoined the lease i got on last year.Aparently he had a falling out with the club president showed his back side abruptly left for a few years but they let him back on.Iíve talked with him several times worked around the camp and shared several scriptures with each other. He seemed like a good mild tempered fellow.Last weekend he left on his tractor and left his truck in the road I was pulling a big trailer so I moved his truck over so I could get by.The lease president called me to let me know this guy was fighting mad about it.When the guy gets there today hi immediately starts cursing and running his mouth.Tells me if he sees me near his truck or his end of camp heís gonna shoot me dead. After i ask him if heís really a Christian he says heís got something for my smart *** he reaches in his console and pulls his pistol out part way but doesnít take it out all the way.He did this 2 more times especially when I told him to tell Jesus about his vengeful plans. The guy came at me like he caught me with his wife spitting angry mad.Iím not a little guy and with gun threating old man it really was dicey for a moment I was silently praying I didnít want to get shot and I didnít want to have to break his neck.I was completely baffled by his behavior.Whatís your thoughts especially moving forward.Iím going talk to lease president tomorrow but dang if I would have had a gun i probably would have pulled it,Iím glad I didnít.

Unquestionably, he needs to go. That’s completely unacceptable behavior whether it’s on a lease or elsewhere.

Sounds like hes a little nuts. I could care less if someone moved my truck for good reason. Guys just got a few screws loose. Threatening to kill someone is way over the line. You did the right thing, but sounded like he deserved to get his butt stomped.

You tell me and others you are going to kill me..then put a hand to a gun while threatening …the least you get is an ambulance ride.

No flipping way that rides…you were well within your rights to stomp him.

That’s some scary stuff…no way I would hunt out there with him. Does he know where you live?

I used to work with a couple of special forces guys from Vietnam era.

Drinking after work one night, he got upset and said let me get my gun. They didn't.
He was a big ole boy, still wound up with a broke arm.

Makes me think he's on drugs or somethin. Was there something in his truck he thought you may have seen that he didn't want to be seen? Hard to say but either way he don't need to be around other people period if he's that out of his mind. If you pull a gun on someone on a whim over something so minor there's a psychological problem going on there.

You say he's an older guy. How old? He may be getting dementia or he's either not on enough medication or maybe too much. Either way it sounds to me like it's only a matter of time before he hurts or kills someone. If he's old I don't know how he hasn't long before now is why I brought up the other stuff. Crazy doesn't just happen over night.

Sounds like letting him back on was a HUGE mistake.

Sad thing is they knew he was a hothead, I doubt that just comes out of no where.

?- why would he leave his truck unlocked with keys available if he's that concerned of someone moving his truck- keys in the cab and unlocked was almost permission IMO.

Parking your stuff in the way of others is the first offense (unless a bar ditch full of water on each side situation).

If it wasn’t that was darn close to a terroristic threat on his part. And yes, had he grabbed his pistol he would have been taking the room temperature challenge. He was extremely fortunate that you were cool headed. He’s one sandwich shy of a picnic. Refund his money and boot him off. With the deputy there.

I would quit that lease immediately. Even if the guy gets kicked off he knows where to find you there. For that matter you can find where anyone lives within five minutes on the web.

Good luck on the situation. Life is too short to deal with stuff like that.

If there were any witnesses to this I would file a report

He's a wack job. No lease is worth getting killed over. That said, he did threaten your life and then also displayed / brandished a fireman clearly for the purpose of intmidation. Those are crimes. Report him to the Sherrif.

Once he is jailed, let me know. I'm looking for a place to hunt this fall!

There was a time when two men used to be able to settle their differences via a fist fight. I personally don’t think this situation calls for that at all for obvious reasons.

For the ones suggesting they would have kicked his ***, what happens next time when he gets the jump on you and has his gun in hand. It’s not worth it.

OP talk to the lease president and get your money back. He allowed this clown back on let him one up with the money.

First off, if what you stated was true, you need to call the local authorities. If you had a witness, even better. He threatened you with a deadly weapon and brandished said weapon. That's a whole lot different than simply "saying" he was going to kill you.
