Default Taxidermy Work…A Bit Different!

By different I mean the subject. Lol

I’m pleased. This was a very young bird and he had a hard time with it. It’s headed back to Texas shortly and this is the only picture I got from him.

Shot in Hereford last year.

When i see some of the bird taxidermy on here, I'm amazed at not only the quality of the work, but the beauty/uniqueness of the individual bird. I totally understand the sentiment behind mounting a bird, though, i've never experienced it myself as a lifelong dove and quail hunter - they all look pretty much the same.

That said... That is one HECK of a trophy that would be sitting on my wall, no doubt. Congrats on a beautiful specimen and awesome mount.

I actually missed him on day one. Got a second chance on day two. Let’s just say I made sure I didn’t miss again.

That’s awesome. I didn’t know they ever had unique patterns like that. I’m guessing it is some genetic thing similar to an albino?

Definitely not a mourning dove, as it doesn't have the pointed tail. It looks to be a eurasian collared dove with some sort of genetic coloring trait.

Most people on here don't understand how great a mount that is!! Just your normal dove mount is a total *itch to do. Usually if you ask me to mount one I tell you to bring me five and then say it's $1000 Because I don't wanna attempt it. A once in a lifetime bird like that you sent it to the right guy!!

. There is some truth in 1/3 of that.....

the split and miss are false.... but the Miller lite part was correct...

Birdman is the man! Outstanding mount considering the specie.

I knew before enlarging the signature that this was done by The Birdman. I stopped by his place one day on the way back from a bird hunt in Wyoming. Asked him to show me what and how he does what he does. He kept me there for six hours!! A great crash course in taxidermy AND wildlife photography.
