Splitting up Powder...what container to use?

I have an 8 Lb jug of a particular powder and I want to give my buddy a pound of it. What type of container do you guys use to split up powder? I don't guess I can just clean out an emtpy can of a preiously used (different type) powder? New Tupperware?

Any help appreciated, thanks!
