2nd annual big sky country trip

Making my way back up to Montana to run a national field trial and spend the rest of September chasing upland birds around in Montana, Wyoming, and maybe South Dakota. Will be chasing sharptails, Huns, sage grouse, and blue grouse for sure. Hopefully we will get into some chukar and prairie chickens as well. Y’all follow along! Just crossed into Wyoming!

Western Wyoming has ruffed grouse, and chukar over by Thermopolis.
                Yep, pheasants open in Nov.

Have fun, hoping for a cool down coming end of this week !!!!!!

I’m runnin a national field trial in central MT this week. After it’s over I’m going to meet up with a buddy around Kalispell to run birds down on private. Then SD for prairie chickens(hopefully). And last but not least WY late September to try and get my sage bomber for the wall.

I'll never forget the first time I saw a full size sage grouse, I thought it was a dang turkey at first glance. Good luck in all your hunts and checking off a lot of those birds. This is something I hope to be able to do one day in hunting all of North America's upland birds.

Our antelope area has had decent sage grouse hunting in the past, they don't call them bomber birds for no reason, lol.
Ruffed and blues from Western Wy too.

Cooler weather coming this weekend, maybe snow up to our north- your way.
Safe travels and best of luck.
By the way, sage grouse are NOT tasty. Blues and ruffed are though.
