7-08 AI would be my choice with an 18-22 inch barrel.

Yes I believe the 7mm-08 would work well for you for having off the shelf ammo.

No sir, in post #5 the OP stated it’s a standard bolt face and he shoots factory rounds. He also mentioned he shoots suppressed which might mean that he has to have a suppressor capable of .338 bullet.

7-08. Please don’t insult a straight .284 win by putting it on a short action.

              260 Remington or 7-08.

I was just poking the bear
This is not a standard caliber. It was the first .338 WSM wildcat ever made. The dies were custom made for me and not available labeled as such. Mine was built on a short action Browning A-bolt and had the bolt face turned for .545 case head.

I'd have to go with 7mm08

Good point. Some of the older rifles with 1 in 10 twists are very limiting.

7-08 would be my choice with 1:8 or 1:9 twist to allow shooting heavier bullets. Factory ammo available.

OP does not reload and only shoots factory ammo

In today’s world, I’d go with 308 and federal 150gr blue box
