I did a search and the state released some Doe's in East Texas. Are you sure there is not a phone number on the back?

Weíve seen a few over the years. No way no how do they ever get shot by us. Always figure those genetics are probably pretty good.

I believe that escaped from a private ranch that introduced some new genetics and tagged to keep from being shot. I am not aware of the state tagging deer. If they did, they would have included contact info on the tag.

But what do I know?

Seriously, am I not supposed to shoot a tagged doe? Cuz I would. I would figure it to be from a HF and got out. It’s not like the HF was ever gonna go back. Please tho, sell me on why I shouldn’t...or better yet, just educate me. Thx.

Like several have said, if that doe was tagged it was because it was a breeder doe that probably had FAR superior genetics. Killing that doe could easily be the equivalent of shooting a 5-6 bucks that were yearlings and had 150+ genetics...that doe had the potential to drop 1-2 fawns a year with improved genetics. So essentially just took 6-10 deer (accounting for mortality) with far superior genetics out of the herd just for a tag.

If you donít care about improving the herd. No foul. Nobody can tell you what to shoot or not to shoot. Itís your place.

If you do care about improving genetics...Big time party foul lol

She will taste the same as any other deer.

Don't worry about reporting to anyone. Fill out your tag and move on.

1x2x5/2 is a lot of math? Lol not saying you need to do math before shooting a deer. If thatís what you wanted to shoot, you did nothing wrong. If you thought it was cool and wanted her, your deer, your place.

If you want bigger deer, you have to see the amount of improved genetics you just removed. Which requires a little math...
