    You don't say, but I assume it was an all carbon arrow? You can take your fingernail and run it around the inside of the arrow shaft at both ends. If it snags, the arrow is split on the end. You may not see it, but you will feel it. If you have big hands, have your wife/ girlfriend/ daughter do it.
    But I still wouldn't risk it. It's just an arrow.

          My experience, too. And, the crack can be at either end of the shaft, not closer to the middle where flexing will alert you to a problem.

            Just made a huge mistake...

            Can somebody explain that picture and how the accident happened?

            The arrow did not break- the shaft is straight.it could have broken at the nock or front 1/3 of the arrow we don't see. It looks like it went through his hand, and some slivers rise up- but if it's straight how did a damaged arrow come off the rest and into the hand holding his bow?

              The arrow was cracked and exploded upon release, The end still, attached to the string went into his riser hand.
