That’s a heck of a nice fish!

No one called the OP or anyone a liar. There was disbelief of the weight. I’d take that fish all day long.

Holding a 13.8 bass by the jaw like that would either dislocate or break the jaw and kill the fish. I'm with the under crowd but I know that scaly fish like green trash fish, carp, etc generally weigh heavy for the size unlike catfish. A channel cat that size would only be about 4lb.

Congrats to your son.

My son went to school at TT and he graduated with a Wildlife Resource degree. While going to school he worked some for the science department and some graduate students working on their doctorate. They electrical shocked several rivers and lakes in Texas. The biggest bass they brought up was at Allen Henry. They had one that didnít come to the top in deeper water that was way over 10lbs that they could see in the clear water but couldnít reach it with the net. It has some great bass in it.
The same reason if someone killed a deer, and said he taped out over 200",and it wouldn't scare 130"..Kinda the same thing to me.

Bass pics are so misleading. I found a nearly dead bass a few weeks ago that I weighed 12.91 on a quality scale that I verified with weights. In my pic, the fish looks like 8-9 pounds

No idea what that fish weighs, but itís big. Congrats to the angler.

Hereís the pic. No one would call this one 12.91 either. Iíve got no reason to lie since I didnít even catch it.

These 3 must not have "lipped" any big ones today, did not get any pics from Day 2 on Lake Alan Henry. For those not familiar with this lake, it is between Post and Snyder. It's setting is gorgeous and great water. Used to do a lot of skiing, fishing and party time in my younger days. Have not been there in a long time but my Son and his buds say the fishing is great!!

Maybe it was the camera angle. I don’t know. That second picture you posted looks like the fish gained some weight from the first picture!

I may be off base, but I would say the bass in the OP was spawning? Normally they will add 8-10% of their base weight with eggs depending on what stage they are in during the spawn. Looks swelled up to me but I'm by no means an expert? Maybe this could account for the weight as quoted with their scale?

Just a thought....

You are right. It was not right of me to call the guy a moron. For that I apologize. I was just trying to make the point of not calling the guy out on the true weight of the fish, but rather just complementing the OP on a really good fish. Regardless of weight. I did a poor job of stating that. Appreciate you saying something.

lol guessing a bass from a picture is like guessing a hill country whitetail.. No one is close.. Congrats on a great fish..If weight was important then he would have taken pics of the scale.. And since he is a "Guide" Im sure he is rounding up.. lol by a few pounds

I never took offense to the moron comment.....it was the part where you called me a longhorn fan!!! Now that was a low blow!!! . Yes, this “Aggie” was just giving him a little ribbing with the TT comment, but you are right....that is a very nice fish to catch, even if it doesn’t weigh 13 pounds.

I try never to post on a bass thread, but there’s no way I can look at a picture and determine the weight of a big bass accurately. That’s a big bass. I’ve caught 4 over 13 lbs, so I kinda know what a fish that size looks like, but it’s extremely hard to tell from a picture. I really don’t know how others justify discrediting that fishes weight.

A perfect response from a guy with probably more experience with bass and for sure 13lb. fish than anyone on the site.

Why not just say nice fish and move on?
