    Sat Phones

    Anyone have experience using these?

Have a buddy going to Alaska for a grizzly hunt and worried about being out of service from his business for 2 weeks so wants something in case he needs it. Looking at iridium. Either or the hotspot or their sat phone. Anyone ever use any of these? Thanks.

I know you can rent them. Some of my offshore buddies rent them for trips.

The Spot works well to, and you can send messages as well as be tracked

I used an iridium go in the brooks range, worked well. Was able to send sms messages and picture emails. Can also use as a sat phone.

I own an Iridium phone and rent the SIM card from a company in Austin.

I rent phones from Satmodo when I travel to fish in remote places. I purchase evacuation insurance as well. It is 1% of the cost overall and well worth it.
This is me in Yemen a few years ago. Sat phone was in my vest.
