Seen my Grandpa drop many a 250-300 lb fattening hog with a .22LR right between the eyes or in it's earhole. Of course he was standing only 4-5 feet away outside the hog pen
Point is, a brain shot hog will drop and be no more.

It'll do it if you hit EXACTLY where you need to.

Do you think a 55 gr. 243 in the behind-the-ear area would put down a hog? Close range, under 50 yds. Probably looking at 3400+ fps.
