Check the classifieds forum for a camera and ask the seller all about it. Tons of info on how to shoot that will take time to learn. A lot depends on budget and functionality that you are looking for.

For a point and shoot with extras look at the Sony RX-100. There are a few revisions at different prices. Large sensor and Zeiss lens.

I do a lot of sporting and outdoor pics and wildlife. Bought a Nikon B700 last year for around $450, and absolutely love it. The 60X optical zoom is great for getting those close ups. Easy to use , and about a dozen different settings and programs.

I really like my Fujifilm FinePix S9400W.

You'd have to figure out what the new model is, but for easy of use, and features. Its been a great camera.
