At the middle of April, it was as dry as I have ever seen it.........it just started at the end of April and hasn't really stopped. Last 10 weeks have been unlike anything we have ever seen in the 17 years we have been down there.

I know that there are a few of us that hunt around Aguilares Texas. There is a dirt road out of the back of town that runs all the way to San Ygnacio Texas.

I hunt off that road. Wondering if there are an others that hunt off that dirt road??..
I know that road. is it still like driving over parking stops every 6 feet? Its been years since I went down it, but it used to be a beat down.

We haven't gotten what you guys have Hunter, but we will take it. I think we are up to 17" for the year after last nights rain. I will take it. Plus we always get some big rains right around late August early September that gives us some pond fillers.

I was there last weekend and the deer look great. Need to quail to explode too! Should have a good quail crop with all the bugs and grass growth.

I hunt off Jennings Road as well. It’s real green but deer are still hammering the protein and cottonseed!

This pic is a few weeks old but he definitely looked wormy. He seems to be fattening up in the times I have seen him on camera since.

Ran down to the lease this weekend to refill all of the feeders, put out new cameras, & mow around camp. I could not believe how much and how tall the grass was. Even more unbelievable was that our pond was overflowing. Iíve never seen it anywhere near that full. Deer are extremely healthy, and doves & quail were everywhere.

This pic was taken from my bow blind in December.

This was yesterday.

Not a ton of activity at the protein, considering how green it is, but had some decent deer show up for a photo shoot last night.

Cant believe all the rain we have had so far this yr. Lost count on totals but it has been alot. Flooding right now in Zavala & Dimmit. 4'-6" so far & still coming down.
Deer stopped eating protein & cottonseed over a month ago and have not eatin much all year. Will be curious to see how the antler growth is this year based on them eating mostly natural forage for most of the summer.

We got another deluge in Webb county last night. Itís nuts. Some of the deer are hitting the protein fairly regularly, but the big boys are very sporadic.

It was pouring from San diego to south west of Freer and all the way to Cameron lane off of 624. I drove that route last night and had to drive 40 mph in some spots closer to freer

If this low pressure system builds and stays south towards Corpus, we could get a lot more rain down south.

Anyone going after the White Wings this weekend or next? How's it looking? Was at my place in Webb county last weekend and seen quite a few birds.

I went to Fal weekend before last to feed. Dove were thick as fleas from Alice to just north of premont. All the grain left standing(because of rains) along 281 has their attention.
Didn’t see enough birds at the ranch to make a limit.
Still going opening day….

Historically we have few ww's, but our place in far SE Webb county is thick with mourning doves... Last trip down, I did see a few ww's... No matter, this is a feeder fillin' mowin', tidying up weekend for me... Gonna bring my ranch truck home for some maintenance... If I get that all done, I'll take the truck back on the weekend of the 18th for the mourning dove opener... It will be a short hunt then... Last year it was a 20 minute hunt with my little 410 pop gun...

doves were thick like always on our place. no WW or not enough to make it worth it.
I will head down in a few weeks. I have to take my mule to laredo to get worked on.
My partner made a run down last week. We have grass growing.. like real beautiful grass.
Bucks look great. Some of the deer that we really should have taken over the years but let walk have made the hit list. Nothing that would make most people with BIG deer look at but we have 5 125-135 8s that need to go. They upper end might make 140 with the mass but we will have to see once the velvet falls off.
I cannot judge bucks with velvet I always miss the mass part. So I do not even try anymore. and you cannot eat the horns anyways.
So we have my oldest that is off at Lubbock Christian University that did not get a deer last year first up this year.
Heck I am thinking that this year will either be a black powder year or maybe a pistol year.
I have not killed a deer with BP or a pistol in years. Heck I am not sure I have an BP that is good anymore.

I hunted fri/sat both weekends of ww season and got a few limits. Came down today and scratched a mourning dove limit and all I know is I hope this front pushes some dumb birds down

These guys are flying like it's the last weekend of dove season not the first.

We’ll be down tomorrow, but won’t be bringing the scatter gun. My plan is to mow senderos, camp area fill feeders and get back home to the A/C. I got drenched just hooking up the trailer and loading the tractor today. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s heat.

Deer are looking good. They are hitting the protein and cottonseed hard right now. We have a few that have rubbed out already.
