    Snake I.D.

First off, I know its a dead snake. Second, I know its non-venomous. Buddy of mine killed it in his front yard right smack dab in the middle of Wylie, Texas. Living in the heart of the metroplex, I see know reason to have snakes. I'm thinkin someone's pet got out. What do y'all think?

Does not look like a rat snake to me, at least not the ones I see.

Color is off but maybe it is the lighting?

Plus I don't remember a stripe down the back?

No rattle on its tail so it has to be a King Cobra 🐍

Rat snake pretty sure. They are extremely common. And there are good reasons for snakes. They eat small rodents. Some snakes, particularly kingsnakes, are fond of consuming pit vipers (copperheads, rattlesnakes, etc.). If I had endless money, I'd probably release dozens of kingsnake varieties around my property as the will quickly deal with the pit vipers.

I told him it was a rat snake, but the way he called me squealing like a little girl, you would have thought it was a 100ft python or something. It was his idea to put it on TBH so he could see what the "experts" say.

From the look of it, he has a nice smooth swing and got everything into it.
