I hate the spike buck part of it. I would like to see them do away with that part of the rule.

I agree. The spike rule is bogus to begin with.

Shorten rifle season, reduce buck tags to one, increase doe tags by one and remove the deadline for doe.

Here’s one recommendation. As I sit in Washington county typing this. Get rid of the spike deal. They are young deer. The chances of having a mature spike are far lower than a mature buck that never reaches 13”. Let folks shoot a doe. One doe. Maybe two. Bucks get shot because aside from the 4 doe days that’s all they can shoot. It is incredibly stupid and these counties are way screwed up as far as the buck to doe ratio.

I'd like to see the spike go as well. But they won't do that. It is all about hunter opportunity and that spike tag likely got AR pushed through in the beginning. Of all the things deer related, most can identify a spike. And their flawed Kerr WMA study has most in TPWD still believing that spikes are inferior.
