From the audio it sounds like she had a bolt action rifle.
A warning shot at close range with a bolt action rifle is out of the question.

Problem is, in some states, and CO. might well be one, you will probably have to prove that the cat was acting aggressively. Her vid did that. I would have probably shot the sucker without thinking about proving provocation and had my azz in hot water with Game & Fish. Texas has no such silly law, except for bears (and I can’t figure that one out, but that’s another conversation). She did good, and you can tell she is an intelligent young lady.
