Congratulations, are you hunting up towards Trapper Lake? We used to go there when I was a kid.

With it getting dark fast and not much blood to trail, I backed out and came back this morning. It was a sleepless night.

About 2 hours of tracking very little blood, I almost gave up. Thats when I found him. Bears got to him and took a back quarter from me, but I was able to save most of it. I spent the last couple hours packing him out and now I'm in Craig, CO, and have him on ice.

Solo/DIY archery elk hunts are tough, but i will do this every year until my body can't do it any more. This feeling i have right now (emotionally and physically) just can't be explained.
That is awesome. I like the character it has.

                  Congrats

Great accomplishment, bowhunting elk alone is the best way to go....it's the packing out that can get you!

Awesome. Were you a little concerned about the bears coming back for more? 44 mag backup?
