So when you toot on one of these squeeze calls, are you trying to mimick a doe sound (I've been around LOTS of axis and never heard a peep outta a doe), or are you trying to draw it out and make it sound like a buck howl?

Txnrog- I dont know- I know axis do make some type of little chirp because I watched one make it one time. I hae no idea on why or if it was normal. I do know if I put a diaphram in my mouth and blow it through a big McDonalds staw I can call in a Sika. They are very curious and wondering if Axis would be the same during the rut.

we have had alot of people that have used the hoochie mama for axis... I have used it, its all in a quick chirp from the call instead of a long drawn out bleat

I am going to try out the elk calls tomorrow on Axis. Yesterday the Axis bulls were bugling like crazy.

Yea, I take back my first statement, I've heard axis does 'bark' plenty of times, but that's usually an alarm call. Never heard them give a 'content' call, or any sort of mewing type estrus call - but I guess I've never heard a whitetail give a doe bleat, but that works sometimes too.
