I am looking for ideas on a short suppressed rifle build.
My criteria is this; 16" barrel, short, light weight, adjustable stock so that it could be used by a kid or adult, Medium caliber that can be used for deer hunting, threaded for a suppressor.
My original plan was to build a TC encore similar to below in 7-08. The break open action saves a few inches on action length vs a bolt action and has the adjustable stock I'm looking for. TC has discontinued the encore/contender line and it looks like finding a decent priced frame only is difficult so now I'm on to plan B.
Without getting into 2k+ rifles does any one have any ideas?
If a contender/encore is what you are after there are 1000's of them out there. I picked up my contender last december for $400.00 on the cabelas used rack. It has a MGM 16" barrel chambered in 300 black out. Absolutely love the little rifle. I am considering finding a stock set similar to what you posted above.
Looks like mdt makes a chassis system for the cz527. In 6.5 grendel would be a pretty decent option for a kids gun. Low recoil but big enough round to not worry on deer for sub 200 yd shots. Especially with a suppressor on it.
Not 16” but worth the extra tax stamp IMO
This is the AAC version in 300BLK with a Silencerco Omega 9k on a three lug HK style thread adapter so I can pop it on and off quickly between multiple platforms. I worked over the trigger and it’s a sweet shooter now.
I’m thinking of cutting a 223 or 308 bolt action to roughly 14” and welding a QD for my suppressor to get the overall length to 16”. I think it’s be extra handy, and I could skip another stamp.
Howa mini action 6.5 grendel, $450 from brownells
Lop the barrel off to 16" at Class 3 machining $100 or so
JTac Elf Owl chassis w/ telescoping stock about $650
This was the route I was going to go but I could not find one of those barreled actions so I just did a M700 in 16" 6.5 creed instead. Spent a bit more money though.

I REALLY want to do one of these with pinned/welded brake (right at 16") in 375Raptor.
