    Maui Fishing Guide Recommendations

So it looks like I’ll be headed to Maui for about a week in May and would like to get in some fishing while we’re there. Predominately interested in Mahi and Tuna but if the opportunity exists to land a Marlin I wouldn’t turn it down.

I’d like to see about some guide recommendations from those of you that have fished out there recently before committing to one.

    Thanks

    Jake

Can't hardly go wrong out there but I haven't been there in 20 plus years so all I've got for you is a bump. Enjoy!

Can be really good or really bad, been twice in the past 20 years, caught a 95lb yellow fin tuna and it put up a hellofa fight.

Thanks for the input folks, and just bumping this back up to see if anyone else has anything to add.

        Thanks

Don't have any suggestions for Maui but if you go to the big island looks up Maverick Fishing Charters. I fished with them and we hooked up on a 600 pound Marlin just as we left the marina. It's insane how quick the water gets real deep in Hawaii. Good luck.

I would take a commuter plane to Kona, better fishing, better charter boat selection

What part of the island are you staying? On the west side, there are a lot of boats that go out of Lahaina Harbor. South or central by the airport, Maalaea Harbor is closer. Although neither of them are very far from anywhere except Hana. I haven't fished out of either, but I do have a friend that runs a snorkeling/snuba outfit out of Maalaea Harbor. He could probably give a recommendation or two. I'll ask.

We fished with Captain Fuzzy in Lahaina. Diehard fishing charters. He was great put us on fish. Ate Tuna on the way back in.
