    Savage Axis 30.06 misfires

My son bought this gun from a friend, it seems to misfire every other trigger pull. Puts a dent in the primer, but doesn’t fire. No matter the brand of shells. CAn it be adjusted easily, Or a gunsmith?

maybe just a new firing pin, or bolt assembly?

Make sure the bolt is all the way down! Have an axis that when I shoulder it via sling the bolt handle will ride up ever so slightly and causes light primer strikes and misfires

This right here. The Ruger Americans can do this as well

go-no go gauge is a quick easy test ! assuming firing pin and springs are stock and no funny business with the trigger ...

this would make sense if someone swapped barrels and didn't headspace properly..
good gunsmith should be able to troubleshoot quicky.

How about taking the bolt down and cleaning it.

I had a 788 like this once. Good cleaning and it fixed right up.
