Default Social Security disability canceled AND diagnosed with Parkinsonís in the same month

My family and I need some prayers please.

To make a long story as short as possible, I got put on Social Security Disability in 2013 because Iím hard headed, push myself, and ended up needing 5 surgeries on my left foot. Had to stop working for a while, but I canít stand doing nothing so I got a job driving a school bus. In the summer of 2019 I tried to see if I could go to work full time driving for Waco Transit. After 4 weeks I had to quit. The pain was unbearable at the end of each shift, and Iíve got a very high pain tolerance. So I went back to driving a school bus.

Well, 2 weeks ago I got a notice in the mail from social security that they canceled my disability, effective June of 2019. Plus, I also now have to pay back the last 2 years of overpayments which is due in 30 days.

To make matters worse, my feet (both now) have gotten MUCH worse along with other odd symptoms. Well, after a brain scan and 3 different doctor diagnosisís, I now have Parkinsonís disease. So Iím loosing my CDL and my bus driving job too.

But I have faith that God will see us through this. Satan has attacked us in the past but God has ALWAYS guided us to safety. This time will be no different.

Prayers for your medical issues.

Social Security had very specific rules on how much income you can make all while on disability.

Here is a link to a booklet on subject.

https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10095.pdf

Good Luck with getting it all fixed.

Start with God. Then I think I would get something in writing from my doctor stating the new diagnosis and get that to em asap. Personally I get a second opinion as well. Why? My mother was treated for Parkinson’s and didn’t have it after all!
A former co worker of mine was correctly diagnosed as has stayed fairly level. He got into a boxing exercise program that keeps him limbered up and he walks whenever the heats isn’t too oppressive.
Your a fighter, and God has the last word. Ask, seek, and knock, or pound!

Since you obviously cannot work now you might see about reapplying for disability.

The only way to deal with SS concerning disability is with a lawyer that specializes in that.

I got handed several of those booklets years ago. Was also told by multiple social security staff as recent as December of 2020 that if you exceed the maximum monthly income then social security would, at worst, decrease what I was receiving per month. Never had anyone ever said anything about it being stopped completely. Iím currently searching for those booklets that I was given.

Iím working on getting the latest diagnosis in writing. The last doc that I saw was actually the 4th one that I have seen regarding this. The first 3 were at the same practice. 2 said Parkinsonís and one said no based on my physical exam while I was on Parkinsonís medication and despite a positive brain scan. So this last doc was my ďsecond opinion ď.

It is tough and a pretty scary thing when your total household income is cut by 1/3 unexpectedly overnight. Not to mention a huge blow to your pride when you have to stop working.

That’s why a lawyer is so important! They state boldly that you can only have employment that totals no more than $1000/ month and they will watch you.

I’m disabled also and received my disability three yrs ago after 1.5 years of my firm staying on top of it! But my firm was very strict about it.

I don't know who told you that, but I do know that SSA gives you a printed statement of the non-disability/ outside income you can make without losing the SSD. My husband got one when his disability was approved and the limit was at the time was $800. It has since changed to $1000. These are always in writing, so it is imperative that you ready everything from them very carefully.

Yes, it is. Been there, except we lost 50% of our income. Getting a Social Security lawyer is the best route. Keep all documentation and when you re-apply or appeal answer every question with "before I could and was doing this, now I can only do this." Keep all of your doctor's appointments.

Good luck and God speed. I'll keep you in my prayers for addressing Parkinson's.

When I consulted an attorney prior to getting SSDI the attorney required a signature on a paper stating that 800.00 was a safe number. If you went over that they wanted you to let them know.

I decided for me that an attorney was a waste of time and money after the consultation.

Do you have any access to an advocacy that can help you with SSDI?
Maybe through your military background?

You only have a certain amount of time to appeal or file for a reconsideration. Call attorney Steven Sanders in San Antonio. He should be able to help you out.

Pride suxx and God hates it. Keep that in check. Been there and done that. I retired at 63 while Iím Colorado. We were living in the mountains at the time and had moved there for the wifeís job. We have a special needs son that we couldnít leave alone with the mountain lions and bears around the house.
Anyway, I still struggle with this. I didnít want to stop work and lose all those relationships, and yes you do learn from bad relationships as well. Thereís a purpose for this in Gods eyes and I donít like it, not one bit. But I know His plan is better I want to put Him in a box for show and tell. ď Hey check this out! I got God in a box! All I have to do is tell Him what I want, click my heels together three times and boom. I have what I asked forĒ!
We know it doesnít work that way brother. Humble yourself before God and ask Him for His wisdom, which He gives freely. You and yours are gonna make it through this and be stronger for it.

2 days after getting the letter from Social Security, I dropped the paperwork off at my local main Social Security office. That was on June 21st. As of July 6th, the last time that I called Social Security, they had still not processed the paperwork and got it in their system. I figured this would happen so when I dropped the paperwork off, I recorded myself doing so.

We have already contacted a couple of local law offices for a consultation, and will be calling more today. Thank you for the recommendation.

I pray every day asking God to show me His will for me and to use me for His glory. It is not an easy thing to do, to put your pride aside, and it can be EXTREMELY scary to ask that God use you for His glory. Typically, Iím a very humble person. When you get a double blow to your gut back to back like this though, it doesnít matter how humble you are, your pride is going to take a hit. Iíve always went to work and made money to get out of tight situations like this in the past. Now though, thatís not an option. Now my family and I need God more than ever. Iím not a fair weather Christian and I know that God will see us through this.

I called him this morning and explained the situation. He said in all of his 20 years he has never heard of a situation like mine. He recommended a different attorney to call that is better equipped to handle a case like this. I thanked him for being honest.

So I left a message at the attorney he recommended and am now waiting on a call back.

I’ve now called and talked to 11 different law firms from all over. None of them will do anything with cessation cases, despite what some of their websites say. I even contacted the Bar Association and they lady was VERY short with me and cut the conversation short after she said there’s no firms in my zip code that deal with cessation.

Our outflow exceeds our inflow so we won’t last long. I’ve gotten a quote from Zillow and am waiting on a quote from Offer Pad for our home. I’m hesitant about doing anything just yet though. If we can hang on long enough for Social Security to let us know what they are going to do then we will be ok. I just don’t know how long that is going to be.

Sounds like He has you right where He wants you! And no, itís not easy. What I understand is this is a broken world with broken people and God uses not only His people, but the unsaved as well to accomplish His will. So, rest assured, if your praying everyday and asking Him to use you for His glory and putting that out here, His will is being played out in your request and your witness.

Yes, I agree. In the end, this speed bump in life will just add to my testimony. Satan thinks he has me where he wants me, but we all know who is really in charge.

Gods word says things of the Spirit are foolishness to those without the Spirit. Folks we are literally one heartbeat away from eternity. When you grasped that it changes your outlook. If we live long enough we may get a bad diagnosis or a terminal one. But who says your gonna be alive to see it play out, to see it get really bad. Let’s try to live like He wants us to daily, and when we fall dust ourselves off ,repent, and keep moving forward. Amen and amen.

So sorry to see your predicament. Prayers and my family adult daughter situation is crazy and similar challenging too. Scary! Faith can be very hard to grasp when its going downhill but is real and I believe. Lets support each other and I am praying for your situation as I type.

The ineptitude of Social Security is astounding.

Faxed 44 and pages of paperwork on July 6th since they can’t find the paperwork that I dropped off to their office on June 21st. I called on July 8th and they verified that they finally received the paperwork, but recommended that I not call again for 3 weeks to let them look at the paperwork.

Called back today, July 12(just 7 days until the 30 day time limit expires) and found out that 4 of the 6 forms I was told by a social security rep on June 19th ARE THE WRONG FORMS!!! In order to correct this, there are 6 other forms that now need to be filled out and sent to them. Since June 19th, I’ve talked to no less than 5 social security reps and only the most recent call told me the form numbers were not right for my situation.

If this is not proof of an inept department of our government then I don’t know what is.

Well, got the new correct forms filled out and faxed to Social Security. Called 2 days later and they never received them. The rep then tells me that about half of the faxes that come in on this number that social security gives out never arrive. Are you kidding me? She gave me a different phone number to fax them to.

So I ask about the 30 day deadline and she says don’t worry about it because we will be receiving a letter in the mail regarding it. Really?

Just more proof of an inept government agency.

Hang in there man! Sent another one up for you. Did you find the right attorney? Hopefully you’ll be ok with all the follow up calls and paper trails.

Thank you for the prayer, I definitely appreciate it!!!

I talked to the 12th law firm today. Every one of them was eager to talk to me until they found out this is a disability cessation case. Not a single one would talk to me, and I asked each one if they knew anyone that would work on cessation cases. If the firm recommended another firm, the other firm still would not take the case. I even called the Bar Association and asked for a law firm that does cessation cases and the firm they recommended does not do cessation cases. It has been frustrating to say the least.
