Gun cleaning solutions?

Hey guys, what gun oils or cleaning solutions are you using? Gun shoppe told me to stay away from hoppes. Said it gunks up
They use some solutions called breakthrough. What are yall cleaning your rifles with, inside and out?

What are you trying to clean? Different solvents are designed to remove different types of fouling.

Break free is good stuff. I have personally never had a problem with Hoppes either.

How does a cleaning solvent like Hoppe’s “gum” up a gun?

The cleaning solution you clean the inner working of the rifle like bolt snd stuff, and what do you wipe the outside parts like barrel and stuff?
Dont know how hoppes gums up but they told me it will.
They use a gun oil and cleaner from breakthrough.

Cleaning=B12 chemtool, everything comes off
Lubricating= Remoil

I used Hoppes to clean the entire firearm. Then polish back on RemOil to protect.

I just wipe the gunk out with a rag and then oil with LITERALLY any kind of oil I have laying around... hoppes, remoil, transmission fluid, 10w-30, 2 stroke motor oil, sewing machine oil, 3 in 1, or whatever was in the goody bag at the last match I went to.

It really doesn’t matter.
