Hard to tell from those pics. Axis will have a black line down their back. Whitetail fawn will not.

the does have a more compact and muscular build than WT. when you skin one you'll notice a big difference

I would say yes. The dark stripe on the spine usually tells me.
But the squatty body...Axis.
