Need help scoring this elk. Him and another got brought to the ranch this spring. Think he is 4 but not sure.

He's bigger than what I'd be willing to shoot on opening morning of my NM elk hunt this year. I'm talking minutes after shooting light opening morning with the shakes trying to calm myself.

I'm no expert and could be way off.... hard to tell mass when in velvet.

I have a 325 on the wall that looks very similar.... mine has better fronts and 3rds and is a little wider. This one has better 4ths and 5ths and may have more mass. All in all - I'd say 330ish.

340" was my guess. Here are pictures of the second one. He is non typical. I think they will both get a pass this year.

I don't know much about aging elk, but the non typical looks young.
