Thanks everyone who replied, it is appreciated
Looking at the schematics for that one, it doesn't look hard. I would give it a go if I were you.

There was a TBHer that offered reel cleaning. I feel like it was a college kid that previously worked at a reel counter somewhere. Something like that.

I cleaned them for a few years back in high school. They’re not hard - just lay the parts out in the order you took them off and it will make the job much easier.

Be careful taking any c-clips off as they’ll try to shoot across the room if you’re not careful. Use WD-40 to clean all the old grease off, CLR to remove any corrosion, soak and shake bearings in rubbing alcohol, use a quality grease on all gears, use a quality oil on all bearings.

Serious Tackle in La Marque but they are far away from you. You might could ship it? They’ve done several old Shimanos for me and they work great!

depends on type of reel you got.
                cheapies...throw away.

expensive...then clean/repair. expensive to me is anything over $150. below this price is a cheapie and you most likely won't find any bearings online for them.

Yeah but he's not talking about Zebco's.

I have 200 dollar reels in boxes in my shop that were repaired and they are never like when I bought them
Then they were not repaired correctly. A bait casting reel is a simple thing to fix.

Just a FYI for anyone in DFW, or beyond:

                            Big John's Rod Repair
                            817-597-8273 or
                            jpen1951@gmail.com

                            Does reel cleaning too.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

                              Bumping this up.

Dad died a few weeks ago we're going through the house.
I ended up with my Grandpa's baitcaster and metal fishing rod. I know its over 40 years old. Maybe even older than that...

I also got Dad's Rods reels.and tackle boxes.
Some of the rods the string on the eyes is coming loose.
                              I'd like them looked at.
                              I'm in the Tyler/Canton area

Dads is good, but they are a little slow. I buy bearings from them at a good price compared to others online.
