I joined the Duval County Ranch in Freer around 2009. It was way better than anything I had ever been on before but not a lot of trophies killed compared to other South Texas ranches of that size. Fast forward to present day, and a 170 isn’t even talked about anymore. I know of a few 200’s taken last season, and we had one go 218”. That doesn’t include all the 180’s and 190’s taken as well. My old pasture took a slick 12 that scored 189. When neighbors start working together on feeding, culling, and passing big deer, it’s crazy how many trophies a ranch can produce.

There is more than one Chittim ranch - it was originally over 200,000 acres and been split up over the years - there is Holden's Chittim (which the Junco ranch brothers own) and there are other Chittim ranches - Dos Chimeneaus and Picosa among others - all top end country

The top 5 would be ones that nobody knows about.

haha - very sure - been in south texas for 20 plus years - I know many of the best ranches - I was on one of the best for 13 years - turns out to be a pretty small world down there when it is all said and done

A 204" record is something to talk about! Way to go!!!!

Mainly because we are a true low fence ranch. There is not one inch of high fence that touches our property. We kill several deer over 170" and our ranch record is 204". Some of the bucks get posted on here, but not all have. Obviously, there is a little humor behind me thinking we are top 5 in Texas... but its the only place I have access to, so its top 5 in my book! Lol
