22 long rifle with a mil dot scope is the way to go. Kill many of hog with that combo. Im confident out to about 130 yards easy with my cz 22 lr

I think grackles are protected so my vote is .223,.204 or 22-250 so it blows them everywhere and leaves little evidence that there was one ever there.

But if I was just shooting squirrels probably a .17WSM.

Yes sir. At 100 yards if you can't hit it with a 22 you might as well use a 50 cal. & scare it to death.

I was in the 17hmr camp until I realized you must not have a 22lr.

Every person needs a .22. 100 yards is easily doable. Just don't skimp on scopes.

22s became my favorite cal when Obama was elected and still are for normal plinking/shooting.

Ruger precision 22lr with a 6x42swfa!! I’m amazed what this little setup does. I shoot subsonics to 100.

I vote for the 17HMR, perfect ticket for the job.

If noise is an issue and you're not suppressed, go with 22LR Subs but you're lobbing them out there at 100 yards. They are very quiet though.

In the Great Ammo Shortage of 2020/2021, I'd probably just stick with 22LR. 17HMR isn't cheap for popping the little brown heathens.

I’ve shot hundreds if not thousands of grackles with the Fed GW...

Well yeah he is the law. That's how a lot of them are. I've heard of game wardens doing stuff they'd give people a ticket for a lot.

Just buy a few cats and they will get rid of the grackles. I used to feed my cats birds all the time. Good times.

Grackles are NOT protected, just like sparrows, starlings, and pigeons
