Increase stroke from 4.00 to 4.25
Bump compression from 9 to 10.5:1
                  Bigger carb
                  Bigger long tube headers
Change reduction from 2:1 to 2.3:1

Walla my 454 just became a 496 with 600HP our goal but that had to happen at 5300 rpm’s max and maximizing torque was priority over max HP

This was supposed to be the beginning of a 10 week build but like everything during Covid there were multiple delays due to parts availability.

I just spontaneously did a Tim Allen grunt.... There are few things sexier than a big ol rat motor!

                    Complete Airboat Rebuild

We got the new plot on with its 4700 1/4” screws, rubber bonded washers and nylon nut.

My plan from there was to just put the rebuilt engine and new prop in the boat as it was. My family objected to this plan with full force and with both engine and prop being super long lead time items there was a window of nothing else we could get done so I decided on a pattern and the wife and I commenced with a complete new paint job.

I shot the base coat and we both stood back said OH SH**! That is not the OD green I was going for.

Decision was made to proceed and see how it turned out.
