    Opinions on this Boat?

I have a possible trade lined up for Tuesday. A guy said he will trade his 20ft 1998 Hydra Sport with a 200HP Merc with around 400hrs for my Harley that I want $7k for. I have been looking for an older bass boat to trade for and this doesn't seem like a bad deal. Of course, I have to check it out in person. Anyone know anything about these? I'm not very familiar with the brand.

Sounds like a fair deal to me.

        Yeah, fair swap IMO.

Just make sure you get a compression check on motor at a boat mechanics place.

Other than that seems like a good deal.

My buddy traded a 25th anniversary Harley for a whole home generator installed with pad poured. He was not happy but wife was thrilled.

Don’t want to speak out of line but those older Mercs weren’t the most dependable outboards were they?

Yah that's why I'm asking. I don't know much about the Mercury's. I want to hear the good or the bad.

Im not a merc fan at all but, that particular merc is somewhat saught after. At least what I can tell from the cowling decals.

My dad re powered his hydra sports glitter boat with a 150 like that.

Do some research online. Can't tell from the pics but if that is a Mercury Optimax, I think the 99-01 models had issues. Also I would check the transom in the boat to make sure it is solid. Don't really know anything specific about the boat make.

Those mercs are good motors. Still a lot of them running around on bay boats.

I would pass. Bass boats are good for 1 things and that’s about it. P

With a solid transom and a solid motor that's a good trade.

Bass fishing is all I do though. To each there own but that's what I like to fish for. Other than going after some crappie every now and then, bass is all I care about.

If it’s sound all around that boat is worth $7k.
