Hunt Western Nebraska if you can.
That's where I hunt(no outfitter just private land)and there are some monsters out there.. It's to late this year for the "rifle tag" draw but the "State wide Archery" tags are still available..

I was recently invited up to hunt during muzzle loader season. Im guessing the landowners have tags? I hope... They kill some really nice muley's

What are you looking to get out of the hunt? Guided/outfitted backcountry, private ranch w/ lodge, DIY public, landowner tag private land, etc...

What is “trophy” considered in your opinion? 28” wide, mature 4x4, buck with a lot of junk... all this depends on where you want to go, I.e. Mexico has monsters by any standards, NM and Texas book deer are few and far between, colorado has the highest percentage of book deer in US.

What are you willing to spend? 2500-7500?

FYI “wytex” on here can probably give you some good direction if you’re open to Wyoming private land.
