Who makes the best 50hp tiller outboard?

What are the weak points of each? Does anyone make one with out a timing belt? Does anyone make o e with out tilt and trim? Thanks

I am a Mercury fan, I have only had the 60HP. But have never had an issue with any of mine. But, there are alot of people running 50HP Tohatsu's.

Yamaha 2 strokes are bulletproof, and would be my number 1 choice. My next choice would be a two stroke tohatsu. The 4 strokes are good but heavy. Just depends on what you’re putting it on, weight considerations, and budget. If I didn’t care about weight or money I’d go with the 50 Yamaha 4 stroke.

You can still get a tldi 50 tiller brand new it won’t have the 2020 sticker on it but it’s still a 0 hour motor .

Honda BF50. Lightest in it's class. Puts out plenty of amps. No T&T if you want it that way. You can get a tiller for most of the mid-range engines.

The Honda BF40 and BF50 are 4-stroke marine engines. These lightweight 40hp and 50hp outboard motors are ideal for flats, bay boats, inflatables, fishing boats, and pontoons.

Truth spoken there.....I don't know why but Tohatsu just seems more powerful than all others in the same power class. I've had several from 18 to 70 hp and no complaints at all.

Power trim adds a lot of versatility to your rig.
If you don't get it you will wish you did.

I’m runnin a 4 stroke 20hp tohatsu on a 16’ modified v, itlll push me by myself about 24. It’s a 2014 motor I’ve put quite a bit of hours on this summer and it has yet to fail me, electric start w/out tilt/trim. It’ll push me, the wife and our kids(4) around and only drop to 21-22mph. No to de rail the thread but I wouldn’t mind tradin up to a 30-35hp tiller handle
