Nice boat brian. I'm planning to get a milk crate and some rod holders but want to get on the water a few times and find out what I really need before adding anything else.

Thanks. They keep telling me to wait. ...but these mods are fun too!

Tonight working on hitch carrier from Walmart for my wife's little yak. I guess it would have worked the way it came. But I own a welder.

I also made a spider rig bucket. (This isn't mine just a web-pic)
I used a smaller 2 1/2 gal bucket, and only holes 3 poles.
It sets btwn my legs and holds minners & sm. dip net, or fits in back cargo area and the lid still screws on the bucket.
Haven't used it yet. So many mods-so little time.

I'll have to get pics of the cart. I used the 12" wheels off of a jugging stroller, (with push-button release axle), 3/4" pipe and pvc. It disassembles and fits into the hatch.

There is another thing to add to the list. I was thinking about minner transport last night...

My old canoe wasn't ideal for bayfishing.
You are probably as shocked as I was.

So I found a used 2012 last month and brought her home.

It needed a seat, which I've added.
Still need an anchor, stake out pole and anchor trolley.

This weekends #2 project is a milk crate bait bucket...rod holder...light holder...gopro mount.
I'll add some pics when thats finished.

More pressing is the sad state of my favorite reel.
Thats project #1.

Tarpon 120 was the wife's favorite. I'm guessing she will end up with one before long. Let me know if you can keep up with him. That was the only one that I noticed it was fast.

Finished up the crate this weekend.
Stiffened her up with poly cutting boards and stainless hardware.
Rod holders, scotty's on the sides and a scotty mount light for the back.

Flow-troll fits perfect in a 5-gallon bucket with a aerator lid.
Should work good for keeping bait alive from bait shop to the reef.

I just bought a used native mariner propel and can't wait to get some fishing time. I took it for a spin a few days ago and really like the pedal vs paddle.

I have a malibu 14 footer I haven't even taken out of the shipping bag because I can't get my yakima roof rack installed on my truck - which is a ridiculous problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.

Man that rig is great! Poly cutting boards? Where did you get them from, that set up looks nice I think I might have to adopt the ideas and try to see how I can mod my rid up.

Thx, Nado.
I got the cutting boards at Wal Mart.
They cut like butter on a chop saw.

Here is an older picture of my yak. I have added a lot since, but it shows my "crate" made from a dog food storage container. I like it better than my old milk crate, because everything stays dry. Also, if pier fishing, surf and fishing from boat I can grab it a go.

This weekend is looking great! I have plans to head out in CC with a fellow from work but then I saw the forecast and I might think about going BTB with some people down at the MP rigs on Saturday but IDK there is also a group going on Sunday BTB.

I took my pescador to fort boggy today. Floated around awhile throwing lures with no luck but had a good time. It's a small lake 15 acres I think but not a bad spot to go for a short trip or beginner like me. You don't have to worry about large boats because they don't allow them in the lake.

First trip to the salt in the books.
I shoulda bought a kayak a long time ago..

Worked a full day Wednesday, coached-up my boys baseball team, made dinner, led the homework brigade, tucked them in and packed. Left Austin at 1am, on the water at daybreak, no sleep.
Name: rp1.jpg
Views: 2128

No wind, no breeze, no fish.
Name: rp3.jpg
Views: 2126
Size: 46.3 KB

So I start moving. Crossed the boat channel to East pocket and went way back in there.
The bay was like glass.
Wouldn’t you just know it, I see tails.
Name: rp2.jpg
Views: 2118
Size: 60.9 KB

Burger, nap and back on the water at high tide.
Winds had picked up and we found fish.
Spent way too much time in a school of undersized trout. I just couldn’t leave.
Caught a couple keepers.
Name: rp4.jpg
Views: 2132
Size: 76.7 KB

We’d planned on night fishing.
But it was all you can eat catfish at Pops, so it didn’t happen.

Happy to report my new bait setup worked like a champ overnight.

Friday was perfect.
Name: rp5.jpg
Views: 2124
Size: 65.8 KB

I was getting comfortable in the boat. I ended up out in the middle of Aransas Bay chasing birds, it was awesome.
Birds bombing bait around me, rocking and rolling in the waves and lots of hookups.
Lost my anchor in the fun, one speck short of a limit.
No crappy phone pics of that.

My buddy caught a nice black drum for big fish of the weekend.

Dusted off the ultimate 14.5 this weekend and took my 9 year old son an my 5 year old daughter out to lake woodlands for a paddle. We put in some bait, but the majority of the fun was sneaking up on a fire breathing dragon. You know, the kind that kidnap princesses and keep them locked up in thier castle.

I am beat after having to paddle just 4 miles. Been too long since I've been in the yak I suppose.

my kayak from Austin Canoe and Kayak should show up at my doorstep this afternoon.... I was hoping to find some places with good fishing that I could venture to not terribly far from me which happens to be the panhandle of Texas

That fact alone may prove difficult for yalls advice but thought I would ask anyway--- stinkin pumped to go have some more water adventures

Well stink, got to inspecting my yak last night and found a crack in the stern right about water line. I contacted Austin Canoe and Kayak and they said it will be no problem to get a replacement---- talk about a dream crusher

I went to put my rudder on and there was the crack staring me in the face.... but the boat looks and feels sweet other than that

The color is desert camo (the only one they had in stock) I really like the sun camo but it was going to be awhile before they received any of those so I just went with desert because it was my 2nd choice anyway---

They did give me a discount on the kayak and then %15 on accessories

Not sure how everything will turn out but I have contacted chase at ACK and he said they are working on it

How much does user size and weight play into Kayak selection?
Also, can you set up a kayak to row as well as paddle for variation in exercise?

I had a Mainstream Kingfish and I miss it. Been thinking about getting another one, but I want to get 2....one for me and one for mama.
